Dunia’s Senior Middle East Analyst Jared Levy was interviewed by USA Today on the prospects for Iraq’s economy, following surging oil revenue and declining violence. As Dunia assessed in its latest Foreign Commercial Activity in Iraq report (released in February 2012 and available here), the volume of announced investments, service contracts and other commercial activity involving foreign firms in Iraq increased 80.4% between 2010 and 2011, while total deal value increased by 40.3%.

As USA Today reports, with continued strong investment in Iraq’s oil and gas infrastructure, foreign companies are continuing to sign a wide range of service and construction contracts with Iraq’s ministries, as the war-ravaged country attempts to leverage its growing oil exports to hasten reconstruction and create a new generation of Iraqi consumers.
